Your profile
As a Social LMS, Linkr offers its users to build a profile they own and curate. As with a social network’s profile, each Linkr user’s profile is updated with the users activity within the platform.
Your Profile is the right place to showcase your personality and tell others about your interests and who you are. It’s a useful tool to present yourself, to network, to meet interesting people or potential collaborators, or even to showcase work for school, internship or job applications.
Beyond basic information, like your name, location or education, Linkr users can add Publications to their Profile. These are multimedia artifacts of learning experiences that allow the LMS to be content-driven, active and collaborative.
The profile becomes a living illustration of a person’s journey.
In this article, you will learn about:
- What’s in a Linkr Profile
- How to see and edit your Profile
- What happens to your Profile if you are no longer part of an institution/organization, class or group?
What’s in a Link Profile
The first section of a Linkr Profile is the header, in which you will be able to write your name (or a pseudonym if you’re not comfortable with your name being on Linkr), pick an avatar and a cover image, and share your current role (eg, Humanities Educator, Instructional Designer, Head of a Program or Undergraduate Student in Economics).
The left of the Linkr Profile is an “About You” section where you can share information to let other users know your background, who you are and what you’re interested in. You are not just your role, so you can share your hobbies, passions and side hustles here.
On the central part of the page, a Linkr profile has two tabs:
- Portfolio: to showcase publications the user has created
- Classes: to showcase Classes of which the user has been manager or member
- Groups (coming soon): to showcase Groups of which the user has been manager or member
How to see and edit your Profile
To access your Profile, simply click on the Profile icon in the side navigation that is always available, wherever you are on Linkr!
Once you’re there, to edit your Profile, simply click on the “Edit my Profile” button at the top of the left section:
Keep in mind that your profile’s information directly relates to what appears on your User card:
What happens to your Profile if you are no longer part of an institution/ organization, class or group?
If you change schools, switch organizations, complete a class, or leave a group, your profile is updated accordingly. In Linkr, each Profile’s content is owned by the individual user so leaving a group or linkr does not make your profile disappear. Rather, as your lived experience changes, your profile remains. You can update or edit your profile, and it will be continuously updated across all the great learning experiences you have on Linkr.
And if at some point you would like your Profile to be scrubbed from the Internet, simply ask for it to be deleted and our team will happily comply! Your privacy is extremely important to Linkr, so be sure we’ll do whatever we can to protect it at all costs.
