Welcome to Linkr, a Social LMS!

Linkr provides a familiar social interface with education-focused features that function similarly to those used in non-academic contexts.

A Social LMS is the best way to create deep and meaningful learning experiences online.

Whether serving as a neutral space for collaborating academic institutions, as a place to offer humanized training or professional development, or a community homebase for educational programming offered by an organization or association, a Social LMS is driven by the people who are invited into these experiences. Rather than a passive, top-down, traditional LMS, Linkr’s design fosters content-driven and collaborative features for networked learning.

People in Linkr

Each user has a profile they own and curate. Like a social network’s profile, each Linkr user’s profile evolves with the user’s activity within the platform.

Each user’s profile can include a portfolio. This portfolio is populated by the user’s publications, multimedia artifacts of learning experiences that enable content-driven, active and collaborative learning.

Each user owns and controls the visibility of their publications.

Their profile becomes a evolving illustration of a person’s learning journey.

Where Users Learn

Each user can join:

A Class is a space for organized teaching and learning. As with a typical LMS, these include ways for educators to add assignments and communicate with class members. But uniquely, the focus is on content and collaboration. Flexibility is offered to class managers as members can join from any institution or outside the academy. Further, in each class there can be multiple teachers and the class schedule can be whatever the class manager deems appropriate for their program.

A Group  is a space for a community of practice to gather and keep their community engaged. More informal than a class, a group enables participants to gather, share resources, and ideas. Each group can be private, hidden, or public.

A linkr is the homebase for a network of classes and groups overseen by an institution, an association, an organization or a learning community such as a virtual exchange, mobility or experiential learning network. Administrators of a linkr can associate training classes with the link, add groups for Communities of Practice and informal learning, and share News, Conversations, and collaboration opportunities with their members.

Linkr is safe, secure, and GDPR compliant, so while social, it is also a place for learning to happen without fear of ads, data-scraping, or other problematic social network issues.
